Doris Cales is currently presenting her latest album titled “Songs from my Heart”.

The record has been released by QUADRANT CORNER, the label headed by the prestigious Josep Ramon Jové. The record was produced by Bruce Barth, the well known New York jazz musician-producer-composer.

We will have the opportunity to listen to Doris Cales’ compositions as well as her unique arrangements to standards. Her artistic level and vocal quality is such that we are in awe of being in the presence of a true artist.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, where her musical formation falls under the influence of such diverse styles such as Motown soul of the 60’s, the physcadelic 70’s, and finally heading towards jazz by way of artists such as Johnny Hartman, Nat King Cole or Dinah Washington.

Doris Cales studies singing with Maestro Luis de Arnedillo, music and piano with Lydia Aaron and vocal improvisation with Pedro Ruy Blas.

Doris Cales is also a singing and improvisation teacher in her own right, having recently given a successful Master Class at the School of Advanced Music in Vigo, Pontevedra.

Doris Cales has performed in many of the most top level international jazz festivals the likes of: Festival Internacional de Jazz de Palma de Mallorca, Festival de Jazz de Atarfe (Granada), V Festival de Jazz de San Martín de la Vega, Festival Internacional de Jazz de Ezcaray, IV Festival de Jazz “Ciudad de Talavera”, Festival de Jazz de Lleida, Festival Internacional de Madrid, just to cite a few, as well as being a choice selection in the programming of the foremost Spanish and European jazz clubs.

Her work with some of the most relevant musicians in the jazz scene speak for themselves; Bruce Barth, Jorge Pardo, Jerry González, Horacio Icasto, Larry Martin Band, Chris Case, Javier Colina, Román Feliú, Paquito D’ Rivera, Víctor Merlo, Carlos Carli, Raimundo Amador, Antonio Serrano, Jesús Pardo, Nono García, Miguel Ángel Chastang, Pedro Sarmiento, Tomas San Miguel, Pedro Ruy Blas and many more.

Doris Cales is without a doubt one of the most relevant jazz vocals in today’s jazz scene. It is always a privilege to listen to her.
